Chateau Cantelys blanc 1988 Pessac Leognan Graves Bordeaux
Winespoint rating: 90/100
Chateau Cantelys belongs to the wine range of famous Chateau Smith Haut Laffite, Pessac – Leognan region in Bordeaux.
Chateau Cantelys 1988 shows elegant style of a white Bordeaux. The color is goldenish yellow with a great deal of buttery nuances which rounds up and makes the wine opulent on the nose. Hints of peach and lanolin dominate the palate. The wine is almost oily and thick. Its characters is tying to salty body. The aftertaste is long with a bitter end. Also nutty flavors appear in the end. A grapefruit skin can be found on the nose and palate. The wine is very smooth and oily. Very drinkable. Chateau Cantelys wine is unique and little bit other than most of today’s Sauvignons, Chardonnays …no wonder it is a well aged white Bordeaux made from Semillon and Sauvignon. To me it is a wine I like and I would search for. Definitely a wine of a big persona. A unique wine with its own character which must be respected and appreciated. It does possess a delicate nose evolved over time.
This wine expresses an elegant style of Bordeaux white with fruit character and salty and gravel finish. Very dominant buttery taste and thick aroma must be highlighted. A respectable wine for a great occasion.
